Our Mission

The mission of San Francisco Bay Area Chapter of the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers is to:

  • Promote the development of Hispanics in engineering and science
  • Achieve educational, economic, social success
  • Promote professional and personal growth
  • Increase educational opportunities
  • Enhance pride within our organization

SF Bay Area SHPE re-enforces its reputation as a vital Hispanic organization by its social responsibility to be involved in education, business, and community outreach.

Chapter Profile

Our SF Bay Area SHPE chapter takes pride in engineering and implementing intensive programs, which are designed to increase the participation of Hispanics in the fields of engineering and science. We operate from a college and professional chapter base, which is supported by regional as well as national leadership and experience. Working off a unique and innovative interaction between students and professionals, SF Bay Area SHPE initiates its many programs throughout the Hispanic communities of the Bay Area.

One of the main goals of SF Bay Area SHPE Professionals is to serve as mentors to our various student chapters in the Bay Area. Each year we seek to develop a variety of programs designed to enhance this goal. By exposing students to workshops on subjects such as time management, delegating authority, and organization building, the SHPE student members will then learn to become effective leaders within their respective chapters and within the Hispanic community.

In today's demanding environment, it is critical that individuals interested in career advancement be in a state of continuous self-improvement. In conjunction with the other SHPE professional chapters in our region, it is our goal to help our members fulfill this endeavor. We conduct a variety of workshops, seminars, and other events to help members acquire the skills needed to become more efficient and productive individuals.
